Well, the gun deer season is behind us, but around here at Otter Creek, a big question remains: Is there anything left with antlers still walking?
It gets a little quiet this time of year, and you start wondering if the big boys have gone completely nocturnal or if they’ve headed over to the neighbor’s property for a better meal.
I took a walk back through the pines this morning to see what the sign was telling me. Between the late-season pressure and the cold snap, the deer are definitely changing their patterns.
The rut might be over, but the hunger is real. If you’ve got a food source that hasn’t been picked clean, you’ve still got a chance. Keep the cameras rolling and keep your boots on the ground.
