There’s nothing quite like a quiet evening in Otter Creek… That’s exactly what happened yesterday evening when I looked out and saw this incredible sight: a beautiful whitetail doe with her two tiny, spotted fawns right on the edge of the yard.

I can see the spots on the little ones, a tell-tale sign of their youth and their incredible camouflage in the dappled sunlight of the woods. Mama deer, ever vigilant, was keeping a close eye on her surroundings, but also letting her young explore a bit. It’s a reminder of the circle of life that plays out daily in our neck of the woods.
It’s moments like these that make living out here so special. The hustle and bustle of the city seem a million miles away when I’m watching nature’s rhythm unfold. It’s not always about the big catch or the perfectly manicured garden; sometimes, it’s just about appreciating the wild beauty that shares our space.
These three spent a good while grazing and slowly making their way across the yard before disappearing back into the trees. Every time I see something like this, it just reinforces why I love calling Otter Creek home.
