A Whitetail Family Moment

There’s nothing quite like a quiet evening in Otter Creek. You never know what’s going to wander through, and sometimes, the most beautiful moments just unfold right in front of you. That’s exactly what happened yesterday evening when I looked out and saw this incredible sight.

Right there, on the edge of the yard, was a beautiful whitetail doe with her two fawns. Take a look at this picture – isn’t it something?

You can see the spots on the little ones, a tell-tale sign of their youth and their incredible camouflage in the dappled sunlight of the woods. Mama deer, ever vigilant, was keeping a close eye on her surroundings, but also letting her young explore a bit. It’s a reminder of the circle of life that plays out daily in our neck of the woods.

It’s moments like these that make living out here so special. The hustle and bustle of the city seem a million miles away when you’re watching nature’s rhythm unfold. It’s not always about the big catch or the perfectly manicured garden; sometimes, it’s just about appreciating the wild beauty that shares our space.

These three spent a good while grazing and slowly making their way across the yard before disappearing back into the trees. Every time I see something like this, it just reinforces why I love calling Otter Creek home.
