Northern Lights Over Otter Creek — Under a Full Harvest Moon

Tonight is one of those evenings that remind me exactly why I love living here in Otter Creek. The November air is cool – and still, Dave Riemer’s corn field to the north is quiet except for the movement of a couple of deer moving through the stubble — right in my backyard.

As the full November Harvest Moon rose over the ridge in the east, the moonlight painted the landscape in a daylight light. But, as if nature wanted to outdo itself, the northern lights danced across the sky. Green waves shimmered over the northern horizon and blended with the moon to create a glow that left me speechless…except for this blog post…

Standing there, in my own backyard, surrounded by the quiet and the sounds of deer moving in the corn field, I couldn’t help but feel awe. There’s a peace that comes from living where you can step outside and see a part of something big — where any night sky can put on a show and your only audience is yourself and the deer.

Moments like this make me realize how lucky I am to call this place home. The world slows down outhere . And sometimes, when you pay attention, the sky itself decides to dance with a full Harvest Moon.
