They say if you live in the country long enough, you start to really notice the landscape.
I spent most of my day updating Excel spreadsheets and customer websites, but as the sun was setting, I went out to do the evening chores and noticed the apple tree by the driveway is coming into blossom.
Most people see a “redneck” and think we’re only interested in things that are loud, fast, or heavy. And don’t get me wrong—I love a good kicker baler or a pulling tractor as much as the next guy. But you can’t be a true redneck if you don’t appreciate the small stuff.
These apple blossoms only last a few days. If you’re too busy staring at a screen or rushing to the next job, you’ll miss the way the petals turn almost translucent at 8:00 PM.
Here’s what that quiet looked like tonight. It’s just a minute of peace from my corner of Wisconsin.
The takeaway? Don’t be so busy working that you forget to look.
