Dancing Lights Over Otter Creek

Last night, something magical unfolded right in my own backyard in Otter Creek. After the sky darkened, I stepped outside and was greeted by a sight I’ll never forget—the northern lights, shimmering in waves of green and hints of red, stretching across the night sky. The air was still, the quiet of the countryside wrapped around me, and the dark silhouettes of trees and rolling hills framed the glowing sky.

One of the most breathtaking parts of the scene was the Big Dipper hanging just above the aurora, its familiar shape twinkling proudly in the background.

Watching the aurora from our backyard in Otter Creek felt incredibly personal and peaceful. There were no crowds, no city lights to compete with—just the quiet whisper of the night and the spectacular display unfolding above. It’s a powerful reminder of the incredible forces at play in our solar system, making a moment of simple backyard stargazing feel like an epic adventure.

If you ever get the chance, be sure to step out, look north, and find the Big Dipper. You might just catch a glimpse of this magical show!
